(CNN) — Fire officials in California say that a home was destroyed by fire as the result of damage caused by lightning and meteorological conditions. It’s the second home this year to be destroyed by a wildfire.
The fire destroyed about a third of a structure, said David Smith, a spokesman for the San Diego County fire department. When a wildfire causes a home to be destroyed, it is often by the roof. But the fire that destroyed the home in Lake Berryessa, north of San Diego, was started by “lightning strikes and wind,” he said.
“It’s a tough and sad situation,” Smith said.
No one was injured, and the home was destroyed with the loss of only two items, Smith said.
The National Weather Service meteorologist says there are no forecasts of significant rain on Monday evening in Lake Berryessa. But the weather service has issued a yellow warning for winds of 20 miles per hour and a red warning for winds of 40 miles per hour.
“It’s expected to warm up into the 90s on Tuesday night, but then cooler as we get into Wednesday,” Smith said. “We’ll see that into Thursday.”
In a news release, the San Diego County fire department said crews are still working to contain the fire.
