Second Woman Says Walker Paid for Her to Have Abortion
Sarah Palin has a lot of explaining to do.
That’s because she’s the first woman ever publicly to allege that her ex-husband, former Alaska Gov. and Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, paid a doctor to perform an illegal abortion so he could use her insurance benefits, according to a bombshell report in The Daily Beast.
Huckabee, now the speaker of the Alaska House, called Palin’s claims “absolute nonsense.” He reportedly denied the story when reporters called his office.
“To call her out on something she said is so over the top,” Huckabee said.
Palin, meanwhile, has not wavered in her claim that she was impregnated by Huckabee, whom she married in 2001.
The Daily Beast report, based on interviews, shows that Palin was given anti-abortion advice by her family doctor, who she says told her she should have an abortion, but the doctor reportedly didn’t tell her that the procedure could be conducted without her knowledge.
“My dad was a doctor for many years and I know that the medical profession is one of the most respected in the world,” Palin toldThe Daily Beast. “So for them to take an oath not to tell a mother who is going through this, who is asking them to stand by her and help her through it… for them to walk out with your abortion in their face, knowing you’re getting an illegal, immoral procedure, is just not right. And not right for me and not right for my mom.”
Huckabee, meanwhile, has denied the report entirely, saying that he did not pay for the abortion procedure, but the claim has sent shockwaves around the world, including those in Alaska.
“She’s a woman,” Huckabee said. “She would make a much better candidate for vice president than Sarah Palin.”
