Aurélien Tchouaméni: Meet the French soccer star everyone is talking about
Paris: France midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni is a man on a mission.
Tchouaméni has made a series of remarkable strides in English football. Last summer, he became the Premier League’s youngest player as well as making his Premier League debut for Chelsea. He was also the subject of a viral video of a man dancing on a bench with an Eiffel Tower umbrella.
He was part of a goal in the World Cup for France who went on to win the tournament in Brazil. A few weeks later, he was named on the FIFA all-star teams of two different nations.
Tchouaméni can relate to his fans as he is an Algerian immigrant who lives in Paris (France). In spite of the incredible success (which would get him a lifetime achievement award from the Premier League) he is also a French man who does not take credit for his success.
“I’m just a footballer,” he says. “I know nothing else.”
Tchouaméni has not only become one of the world’s best players in Europe but also a successful businessman.
At the age of 18, he moved back in with his parents to Paris after being a star player for Al-Ittihad in the UAE. A few months later, he was the next to sign for Barcelona under the same French coach, Pep Guardiola. He made his professional debut for Barcelona in February 2016, scoring in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Milan.
He played in all the Champions League final games for Barcelona including the final in Madrid but he didn’t score. He did earn two assists in the match though.
“I’m very happy about playing my first final in the Champions League for Barcelona,” Tchouaméni said after the final.
